Seniors- local companies are sponsoring a full ride scholarship for ONE Class of 2022 Senior to attend Davis and Elkins. In order to apply, you must have a 3.25 GPA or higher and submit an essay to the committee between 500-1,500 words describing how you will pay it forward to the state of WV if you are selected for this scholarship. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity if you are eligible. A committee will select candidates to come in for interviews and then they will determine who is the winner of the full ride. This week Prestige Healthcare Resources Statewide is working with multiple “companies” located in the GHS Career and Technical Education wing – Riverside Designs, FFA Ignites, FFA Greenhouse, and Bearcat Gym. Prestige Healthcare, the simulated workplace company for the Therapeutic Services concentration, is offering a wellness screening to perform and practice taking vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse. Prestige Healthcare Resources Statewide is looking forward to practicing more complex skill sets throughout the year! On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, a wonderful Grafton Rotary luncheon was prepared and served by Grafton High School’s Bearcat Den and Bearcat Bakery. Bearcat Den and Bearcat Bakery are the simulated workplace companies of Grafton High School’s ProStart and Baking and Pastry course concentrations. “From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart’s industry-driven curriculum provides real-life experience opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime”. Senior Aden Carroll was elected by his classmates (fellow "employees") as Riverside Designs September Employee of the Month. Riverside Designs is the Simulated Workplace company for the GHS Coding, App, and Game Design Concentration. Aden has earned industry recognized, Microsoft Office credentials in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. He earned Adobe Certified Professional in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 in May 2021. Aden will graduate as a CTE Completer in three concentrations: (1) Coding, App, and Game Design, (2) Information Management, (3) Management and Administrative Support. Attention juniors and seniors: The ASVAB assessment will be administered at Grafton High School Thursday, October 14th at 7:55 a.m. in the Mary Battle Studio. The ASVAB is a test designed for career exploration and also to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces. If you are interested, please sign up as soon as possible with Mr. Mahon in the counselor’s office. There is no cost for this assessment. For your information, it will last through the morning and all test takers will eat 2nd lunch. After that, students return to their regularly scheduled classes 6th period.

FBLA welcomes new and returning members! GHS FBLA will meet on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 during AA. FBLA offers a variety of activities and competitive events to help explore student interests and talents! Come check it out in TC7/TC8. FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs.
