GHS Class of 2023 Graduates,
We're pleased to inform you that the 2022-2023 yearbooks have arrived and may be picked up during regular school hours from Wednesday, September 27th through Friday, October 6th.
Your yearbook is a significant memento of your time at GHS. Please collect your copy from the school office and share this information with fellow alumni!

Members of the junior class are selling tickets for a chance to win a game day themed basket. The basket is filled with Bearcat Fan gear!!! Most items were designed and customed made by Sierra Persinger❤️. All proceeds will support the Class of 2025.

Let's start by acknowledging all the time and resources Mr. Waters has been dedicating to developing the Strength and Speed Program at GHS. His knowledge and commitment are recognized and appreciated.
Next let's give a big shout out to Jacob Nestor. He submitted an excellent design in the contest for the program logo.
Jacob received a $50 Amazon gift card as the contest winner. Congratulations Jacob and thanks to everyone who submitted a design.

Thank you to the WVSSAC for hosting a leadership summit again this year and to Coach Foley for being willing to chaperone.

This year, students are nominating peers and staff members as outstanding humans. There will be a student from each grade level and two staff members selected each month.
Below are the outstanding humans from September. The comments are a composition of what was submitted with the individual's nominations.

Landon Jefferson
He is a good leader. Leads by example. He is a handworker who is kind, caring and demonstrates good manners. He is always in a good mood and is a problem solver. He is an all around good person.

Miley Singleton
Miley is nice to everyone. She is kind, friendly and helpful. She always has a smile. She is a great person to be around.

MJ Niggemyer
He is a charismatic individual who is smart and friendly. He is involved in a lot of areas at school and is a good leader. He is funny.

Madeline Shaver
She is very respectful of peers and adults. She represents the class of 2024 well. She demonstrates leadership qualities by serving as our Vice President. She is one of kindest students you will ever meet. She never fails to make others feel included. She always wears a smile on her face and works hard for the things she wants. Her strive and want to be kind and work hard is inspiring to anyone she knows.

Mrs. Kasraoui
Mrs. Kasraoui is an inspiration to us. She is nice, is excellent at explaining topics and understanding. She guides students with a soft voice. She is does not yell and is always positive.

Homecoming Spirit Week theme voting is now available on your Class Teams. Please be sure to vote by the end of school on Monday!

Congratulations to the 2023 Homecoming Princesses for Grafton High School as voted by their classmates.
This year, due to a tie between four individuals in the Senior Class, we will be having six princesses for the Class of 2024.


Fall 2023 Academy Days will be held at Bridgeport High School on Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2023. Students in the north central region are encouraged to attend this location.
Starting as early as the 9th grade, students and parents can receive valuable information and ask questions helping students to plan ahead for the U.S. Service Academy admissions process as well as ROTC Scholarship programs.

Bearcat Esports will meet AFTER SCHOOL on Tuesday, September 19 in Room TC8.
This will be an important organizational meeting to discuss game titles, scheduling, and setting up Generation Esports accounts. Fall Majors Season begins October 2.
Students will need their OWN transportation for 5:00 PM, prompt PICK UP on Sam Bord Drive. Students will have the option to eat an after-school meal beginning at 3:15 pm.


Senior portrait retakes have been rescheduled by Lifetouch. Pictures will now occur on October 9th.
You will wear the drape or tuxedo provided.
It is recommended that you wear a tank top that you can leave on under the clothes. This is the last schedule day for pictures. If you do not have your portrait done, you will not have a senior picture in the yearbook.

Shout out to Kassidy Heldreth!
Kassidy is a Junior involved in Band, AP Language and AP US History, and Honors Chemistry. She is currently in Courses 2 and 3 of the Coding, App, and Game Design Concentration. The featured, from-scratch design is her latest creation working with Adobe Illustrator in Digital Imaging 2.

Glenville State Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors:
This scholarship was established by the estate of Gracie Viola Bosely. Applicants will be required to submit an essay to the Scholarship Committee for review. Awards will be made in the following priority: 1) graduates of Grafton High School, 2) other Taylor County residents, and 3) any other West Virginia resident.
