Many students participated in summer activities this year offered by Taylor County Schools. They traveled to many attractions around the state and made a stop at Kennywood too. Thank you to the GHS teachers who made this happen. There was also an epic water balloon fight that even our head custodian, Mr. Todd, got in on.

The band has been working hard on a new show this summer. The creativity in the music and choreography is excellent. Catch them Friday night, August 25th, during the opening football game.

Shout out to the volleyball team as they complete week 2 of practice. They have participated in two scrimmages this week and completed sone fun team building activities. They open up at home on Thursday, August 24th at 6:00 against Heritage Christian School.

Show choir camp 23-24 is well under way. Yesterday they finished their 2nd day on a high note! They have the opener all put together with combo and everything! Mrs. Mayle says these kids are awesome!!!

Back to School Event!
A few reminders...
Freshman and new student orientation is Wednesday, August 23rd from 7 to 8. We will start in the auditorium. Following a brief welcome, schedules will be distributed and tours will occur. There will also be time for Q and A.
Any upperclassmen interested in helping with this event, please be at the office by 6:30.
Following orientation, we will have our annual Back to School Block Party at 8:00 on Sam Bord Drive. If weather is not favorable, we will move to the gym. Join us as we kick off the 23-24 school year. There will be concessions available as well as fan gear for sale. Come out and meet our staff, celebrate classmates' accomplishments over the summer, see performances by our cheer, band and Entertainers and meet our teams.
We are excited to have our Bearcat Family back in the building.
Important Message from Taylor County Schools:
Starting Friday, August 25, 2023, the following procedural change will go into effect: All schools will open to receive student arrival no earlier than 7:15 a.m., as this will be the earliest that students will be allowed to enter any school building. Parents/guardians are asked to plan not to drop off students prior to this time and honor the bus lanes specifically for buses only and parent/guardian student drop off lanes. This change is being made to help minimize traffic congestion at all locations. We appreciate your cooperation. (This change will not affect school/class instructional start times at any location.)

Good evening seniors and families-
Weather does not look great for tomorrow or Tuesday for Paint My Space, but we don't want you to miss the opportunity. We are still going to set up in the parking lot tomorrow morning. We will collect paperwork, fees and you can select spots. If you want to paint, go for it. You can also wait until later in the week when weather looks better. All spots should be finished by Friday evening, 8/18. If you cannot finish by then, please contact the office to discuss. If you do not come in the morning from 9-11 to do paperwork, submit fees and select a spot, you can stop in the office this week during the day.
