Ideal for Grades 9, 10, 11 -- seek out information early to best prepare. Great for Seniors who have already started the application process. Interested students should also see Mr. Zukowski as a Zoom meeting, with Senator Manchin, will be available on September 25 at GHS.

If you are interested in learning more about the trip to Spain with Senora Skaggs, there will be a mandatory parent meeting Friday 9/20 at 5:45 in Room 102.

The first Student Council meeting of the year will be held this Thursday during AA in the cafeteria. This is open to any GHS student who wants to be a part of Student Council, even if you were not a member in the past. All are welcome.

I had the opportunity to watch the Taylor County Trail Dogs high school mountain bike team compete today at Big Bear Lake. Unfortunately, the two girls were not available to compete today, so I only watched the boys event. I was so impressed by the entire organization, our coaches and especially the students. Congratulations to each member of the team that completed the course today, and special shout out to Isaac Young who placed 2nd in his division. This is not a school sport, but a club sport in our community. It is funded by donations and students families. They are appreciative of all of the donations they've received from school and community organizations and alumni. The coaches have worked tirelessly to ensure that they have loaner bikes so any student that wants to participate has the opportunity. With the team growing like it has they are currently in need of another bike stand. If anyone is interested in making a donation to the organization please reach out to me, and I will get you in touch with the right people. I would be remiss if I did not recognize teacher Samuel Wilson for bringing this event to our community and working tirelessly to see it be successful. What an awesome sport. I am proud of you all - Mrs. Shumaker

Update from Coach Louzy...

The FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division’s Community Outreach Program will host Teen Academy on Tuesday, October 15. Deadline for submission of completed applications is September 13.
Teen Academy is a one-day hands-on program for rising High School Juniors and Seniors (2024-2025 school year) residing in West Virginia.
The FBI CJIS Division’s Teen Academy program in Clarksburg, WV allows a diverse group of high school students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to investigate the world of law enforcement. Active explorations of information technology and forensic science grow students’ minds and bodies while age-appropriate lessons on topics such as violence prevention, sextortion, and hoax threats teach them how to stay safe. FBI staff, including special agents, intelligence analysts, and professional staff, lead discussions and interactive sessions focused on the work we do, how we do it, and, most importantly, why we choose this work in service of all Americans.
Any student with an interest in leadership and service is welcome to apply for this free opportunity. An interest in a law enforcement career is not a pre-requisite.
Please visit the following link to download an official application, which includes an essay requirement. Click on the link to download the file, complete the application on your computer, and return via e-mail to CJIS_COP@fbi.gov .
