A Message from Superintendent Miller

The Taylor County Board of Education met in special session on Thursday, July 16, 2020. The purpose of the meeting was to determine a schedule for return to school and tiers to respond to concerns related to COVID-19. Additionally, the board approved changes necessary due to the delay in starting school to September 8, 2020. The board voted to implement a staggered start with different grade levels reporting on different days to allow for the deployment of technology and introduce and practice the guidelines and requirements necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

There will be two opportunities for questions and answers on the startup and tiers related to the impact on daily classroom instruction the coronavirus may have during the 2020-2021 school year. The first opportunity will be Tuesday, July 21, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Taylor County Board Office. The second opportunity will be Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Taylor County Board Office. We will be practicing social distancing and can only permit a total of 25 people in the board room at one time. There will be personnel present to allow for each person attending to meet with the board. If you cannot attend in person and wish to address the board, information is posted below to allow you to join. You also need to email Mrs. Miller at cemiller@k12.wv.us by 5:30 either evening so we know who is requesting to address the board. This is only required for those unable to attend.
